Let’s protect Texas schools with smart revisions
to Texas Education Code Chapter 37.
Prioritizing the safety of our students and teachers is essential for cultivating academic excellence at every school.
“In 1995, the Texas Legislature first added Chapter 37, also known as the Safe Schools Act, into the Texas Education Code. What was then a 5-page directive has ballooned to more than 130 pages and is outdated, non-practical, and inflexible for today’s classroom needs. When it comes to a revamp, it’s an eleven on a scale of one to 10.
The Student Behavior Management Coalition was formed in February 2024 to collaborate on positive legislative changes to address the behavioral issues in today’s classrooms. Please review the information on this website and join our coalition to ensure the safety of all students, teachers, and staff in Texas public schools.”
